The DLA’s executive committee has produced a preliminary response to the government's consultation on Resolving Workplace Disputes, which focuses on reforming the employment tribunal system (attached).  We believe that many of the proposed changes would fundamentally alter the nature of the tribunals, and so any comments from members would be most welcome.  Some of the changes include introducing fees, mandatory conciliation periods, and increasing the qualification period for unfair dismissal to two years. The response is due by 20th April 2011, and so we would appreciate any comments by 19th April 2011 (send to our email [email protected]).  Alternatively, members may wish to submit a response on their own behalf, and cross-refer to the DLA's response if they are in agreement.
