AGM 3rd February 2016 - event report - a wonderful evening with fantastic speaker, Frances O'Grady, General Secretary of the TUC

We were delighted that Frances O'Grady, General Secretary of the TUC, was able to join us at our well attended Annual General Meeting on 3rd February 2016 as our guest speaker

In her talk, she focussed on the TUC's current four priorities:

  • EU referendum
  • Immigration Bill
  • Employment Tribunal fees
  • Trade Union Bill

On Europe, she said that although the organisation was by no means perfect, it was nevertheless the wellspring of many workers' rights which could simply disappear, should the UK leave.

A new Executive Committee was confirmed in office with four new members:

We thank our new Trustees and wish them a hearty welcome to the Committee!  You can find a full list of the Executive Committee members here.

Finally we said a sad farewell to our longstanding member, Barbara Cohen, who has served on the Committee since September 2002 which makes about 5,000 days!  A sincere vote of thanks to her was passed in recognition of the hard work and dedication that she has given to the DLA over the years
