DLA response to the EAT consultation - July 2023 - the DLA has submitted a comprehensive response to the consultation relating to proposed amendments to the Employment Appeal Tribunal Rules 1993 and to a new Practice Direction for the EAT

Published on

Most of the changes proposed are relatively minor but the DLA has identified some areas in which there may be an impact on disability and, conceivably, sex. Particular stress is given to the needs of litigants in person and we have recommended that instead of laying heavy emphasis on changes to the practice directions of the EAT, consideration should be given instead to issuing a "court guide" in a similar vein to the Administrative Court's JR guide; in particular there should be an educative guide to how to prepare grounds of appeal to comply with the requirement to be concise and on how to construct a skeleton argument for an appeal so as to be concise.
