DLA Conference 2016: "Discrimination Law Today - Threats and Opportunities" CONFERENCE REPORT

The annual DLA Conference took place on Monday 14th November.

We were delighted to introduce Clare Moody MEP and Professsor Uduak Archibong MBE (Director of Centre for Inclusion and Diversity, University of Bradford) as our keynote speakers.  They both spoke with passion and commitment.

As in previous years, during the afternoon participants were able to choose topics they wish to explore in greater depth during breakout sessions covering a range of current equality law issues.  The breakout sessions, led by experienced practitioners with specialist expertise, provided practical advice in relation to particular areas of law or procedures.

Our afternoon panel, which was chaired by Robin Allen QC, included experts in areas of policy, rights, law and politics. The panel members were: Aileen McColgan of Matrix Chambers, Ben Patrick of UNISON, Sam Smethers of the Fawcett Society and Omar Khan of the Runnymede Trust.

The DLA is immensely grateful to Baker & McKenzie for generously hosting this event.
